Walk 2: Lantern Pike from Rowarth

Distance 5 miles – Time – approx. 2.5 hours

A moderate walk with pleasant streamside walking, some fairly gentle ascents, occasional muddy or rough terrain and numerous stiles

Begin your adventure from the free car park in Rowarth, following the tranquil path into the heart of the village. Meander past charming sights, including a disused phone box, before venturing onto the footpath along the stream. Traverse gentle ascents and occasional muddy terrain as you make your way towards Lantern Pike.

Delight in the panoramic views from the summit, marked by a topography, before descending along a stony path. Follow the Pennine Bridleway, passing Matley Moor Farm and Bullshaw Farm along the route. Take in the rustic beauty of the countryside as you navigate through fields and farmyards, eventually arriving back at Rowarth’s village green. Conclude your journey by retracing your steps to the car park, reminiscing on the scenic wonders encountered along the way or visit Little Mill Inn for food and refreshments.
