The Duck Race is held each June and provides a lot of fun for local children and residents, as well as cash prizes for the winning ducks!
New Mills Festival, along with the PTAs from local primary schools and nurseries, organise the event, which features a race specially for local businesses, a schools race, and the public competition which has cash prizes and trophies for the winning ducks. The route is along the River Goyt, starting near the viaduct and Goytside Farm.
Please note access is by foot only, please use the town car parks if travelling by car.
New Mills Festival volunteer and Duck Race Committee member Rachel Walker says: “With nearly 1500 participants in 2019 the event is a hugely popular date in the town’s cultural calendar. There will be entertainment, lots of activities including the return of the ever popular Bubbleologists courtesy of the Big Bubbleman plus the fabulous PTA Cake Stall and other street food. It’s great collaborating with such a big group of people… a lot of fun and fantastic that all the co-organisers can work together raising much needed funds in the process. It’s what our community is all about!”
