Distance 7.25 miles – Time approx. 3-3.5 hours

The walk is moderate mainly on good paths but with stretches across fields that can be very muddy indeed so good footwear is essential. The first part of the walk from Mousley Bottom Nature reserve is easy, the walk through Lyme Park (where there are facilities for drinks, food and toilets) is mainly on good paths and tracks, there is a section after the park across a fairly boggy field.

Mousley Bottom Nature reserve with its tranquil beauty, offering winding paths through lush greenery, shaded by towering trees. The gentle sound of a babbling brook adds serenity to the ambiance, while charming bridges invite exploration. Perfect for a peaceful stroll alone or with loved ones, Mousley Bottom promises a serene escape into nature’s embrace.

Lyme Park, nestled in the picturesque village of Disley, is a quintessential English estate boasting breath-taking landscapes and rich history. A highlight of any visit to Lyme Park is the striking Cage which is included in this walk, a historic hunting lodge perched atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
The journey culminates in a rewarding vista from the Cage, where one can admire the sprawling Cheshire plains stretching out before them. Once you’ve completed the walk have a well deserved refreshments at one of the local eateries.
