A great holiday base

New Mills is the perfect location for your next getaway. Named as one of the top five most desirable places to live in the UK in 2024 by Garrington Property Finders, it has lots of attractions for visitors including scenic countryside, country pubs and restaurants, interesting shops selling local and homemade products, and amazing history trails.

New Mills also makes a great base for exploring the wider area. Semi-rural, blending in the heritage of mining and mills, with outstanding views of the Kinder Plateau, the town is an excellent gateway to the Peak District National Park, nearby Lyme Park, the canal network and neighbouring Cheshire. Walking start points are also well served by trains and buses.

Under 30 minutes away by car is the spa town of Buxton and the caves and caverns of Castleton.  Within an hour’s drive you can find yourself at other popular attractions including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and RHS Bridgewater.

The city of Manchester is only 30 minutes away by train and in the opposite direction is Sheffield (50 minutes).
