Anyone living in or around New Mills will have visited New Mills Art Theatre, either watching their children in school productions, attending the many gigs, dramas, comedies, musicals and pantomimes, or those talented and brave enough may have entertained the masses from the stage.
New Mills Art Theatre in the heart of High Peak opened in 1911. The place is just bursting with history and has seen several ups and downs over the 100 years it’s been here, with a recent restoration in 2019. This was delivered largely by volunteers and included the installation of seats from London’s famous West End Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
Groups that work with us, are bowden theatre works and NMAODS (New Mills Operatic and Dramatic Society was formed in 1922).
There is no public parking provision at the theatre, as street parking can be limited, we have agreements with Swizzels and Avenue 65 (just off Albion Road) to use their car parks.
