New Mills is featured in the Three Counties Rail Ale Trail which links Cheshire, Derbyshire and Greater Manchester. The whole trail can be explored without needing a car and New Mills boasts three featured venues which sit between its Newtown and Central railway stations.
The Trail starts at Disley before continuing through New Mills, Marple and Romiley to Bredbury. Across five stops there are 12 featured pubs and bars, including micropubs, independent beer bars, traditional pubs and a working brewery taproom, giving each part of the route something a little different.
The trail uses two railway lines, joined by a short walk across New Mills between New Mills Newtown and New Mills Central. That makes New Mills the natural link between the two halves of the route, with three venues to choose from before continuing towards Marple. The featured venues in New Mills are the Beer Shed, Torr Vale Tap and Torrside Brewing Taproom.
