Step into a world of pure imagination at New Mills Art Theatre

New Mills Art Theatre is set to transform into a chocolate factory when it stages Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this November. New Mills Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society is creating a sweet treat for all the family with this wonderful production.

Running from Wednesday 18 to Saturday 21 November at New Mills Art Theatre, the show is just the (golden) ticket that audiences will certainly want to get their hands on. You’d have to be trapped in a chocolate wrapper not to know the story, but the musical
brings Roald Dahl’s characters, including eccentric and talented chocolatier Willy Wonka and selfless and imaginative Charlie Bucket, to life.

Audiences can expect a faithful interpretation of the magical novel which follows the impoverished youngster as he attempts to win one of five golden tickets to tour of the famous Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Charlie and his Grandpa Joe navigate the wonders and dangers of the factory alongside four other children who represent the worst of society, each being taught a lesson at the hands of the morbidly cheerful and dastardly Oompa Loompas.

After the success of last year’s production of Elf the Musical, director and choreographer Cathryn Yates and Musical Director Ceri Graves are once again working together with the support of an amazing backstage crew.

Cathryn said: “It has been great to work with such a talented and hardworking cast, especially with some of them being so young, but the unsung heroes are the dedicated backstage volunteers who are working to create a fantastic set.” Ceri added: “Charlie has such a fantastic soundtrack with songs audience will be familiar with including The Candy Man and Pure Imagination but there are some amazing ballads and toe-tapping tunes of all genres they will be humming long after they leave the theatre.”

Secure your golden tickets today and step into a world of pure imagination with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
