New Mills is renowned for its community spirit and welcoming atmosphere. The town puts on a range of events throughout the year including the monthly QuizIt which is hosted in a different pub each month and raises tens of thousands of pounds for local good causes. The community cinema provides free entertainment for families six times a year at St George’s Parish Hall.
There is also a whole host of events linked to festivals. The Christmas Lights Switch, the Duck Race and the Carnival bring out the crowds for a good time and the One World Festival is the High Peak’s free community festival about peace, diversity, world development and the environment.

Just trying to post information about an event happening at Torrvale mill on Saturday 26th September, 7pm – 8:30pm.
The local community group The Fashion Activistas will be showing a World premiere of their film, about fast fashion and they will be joined by Elle MacMillan, a recently graduated student in biotechnology, who will be demonstrating the possibility of creating yarn from seaweed.
