New Mills AODS Announces Auditions for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Fancy stepping into the spotlight? New Mills Art Theatre is inviting people to audition for its next big community production – Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

After the success of Elf The Musical last year and Shrek The Musical in 2024, New Mills Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (AODS) is back with another fun-filled, family favourite packed with colour, music and plenty of surprises.

Auditions will take place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May 2026, with registration open until midnight on 25 April 2026.

Chairman Gary Ward said: “As is tradition with our community productions, we’re proud to offer open auditions and encourage anyone to take part. No experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a love of performing.”

The show will be led by Cathryn Yates, who won both District 1 NODA and ACT awards for directing and choreographing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and has since worked on Shrek and Elf at the theatre.

Musical director Ceri Graves returns following Elf The Musical, with previous credits including Shrek, School of Rock (District 1 NODA winner), SIX-teen (North West premiere and multiple NODA awards), and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
