Well we could hardly say it was planned and it is a little bit early to celebrate New Mills 150, but Sunday morning (15 February) at 11:30am a double header steam train will be passing through New Mills onto the Hope Valley Line.
You will get fantastic views of it from either platform (stand back from the edge please), but equally good views as it passes under the Heritage Centre (Rock Mill Lane) and then out the other side through The Torrs, Hyde Bank Road and then onwards towards Chinley and eventually Sheffield – get there early as there is nothing worse than see the smoke and steam disappearing into the distance and listening to everyone going ‘wow, that was brilliant!’
