Stockport Samaritans
About Stockport Samaritans
We serve as a listening ear for our local community, with ordinary people supporting those struggling to cope, around the clock, every single day of the year.
From our base in Heaton Moor, we offer emotional support by person, by telephone, by email and by text. However we proudly support the whole of Stockport and neighbouring areas.
In 2018, our Stockport branch took over 24,000 calls for help.
There are about 25 – 30 suicides per year in Stockport.
Volunteering at Stockport Samaritans
Everyone in our branch is a volunteer and we are always looking for support locally. We have over 100 volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.
Being volunteer can help to change lives, and we are always looking for people to help provide this vital listening service.
Not everyone wants to be a listening volunteer however, and there are so many other ways to support Stockport Samaritans, such as administration, fundraising, or publicity. There’s something for every one.
