Summary
Visit New Mills continues to support all local Community groups and businesses and also facilitates events and projects in New Mills
All events in 2023 were delivered successfully – however, funding and volunteering remains challenging – New Mills Carnival, Youth Festival, Lights Switch On, weekly Quizits and regular community cinema continue to thrive.
Our web site and social media instances are growing well and continue to be the first point of contact for visitors – we have recently started to use TikTok.
Finances 2023
- Please refer to the attached annual summary for details
- Donations to community groups totalled £15,593.89 – this included £1,500 profits from community events and weekly Quizits.
- Grants received from DCC, HPBC, Cinema for all and Sustain video Ltd to help support events and community projects.
Projects 2023
- Community digital notice board – evolving from previous paper based event posters and adverts to greener digital posts
- Web site – continued effort has gone into reviewing and updating the web site content with significant changes planned for 2024.
- Community cinema events at St Georges Parish Hall.
- Hanging baskets for the town centre
- Weekly Quizits at New Mills pubs and venues – new venues last year are Torr Vale Tap and Thornsett Brewery
- Replacement festoon lights and bulbs.
- Support of the Repair café with Insurance cover.
- New community asset storage facility
- Banners – reusable event banners fro Lights Switch On, Cinema and Carnival.
