High Lea Park – St Mary’s Rd, New Mills, High Peak SK22 3BW
High Lee Park is the main, biggest and best park in New Mills, surrounded by mature woodland, with beautifully maintained grounds and a wide range of fantastic play equipment for all ages, including enclosed areas for toddlers, Zip Line and adult exercise equipment.
There is a grassed area and a rough football pitch up the hill behind High Lee Hall, which included 2 goal post and a basketball hoop.
Easy to find and very near to the bus station and New Mills Central train station, there’s limited parking in High Lee Park but plenty of town centre parking nearby.
There is a wooded area to walk through, with a small pond and beyond the wood is New Mills Community Orchard. Wildflower meadows, fruit trees, picnic tables, regular events and nice views across the valley.
It is host to the One World Festival, held in the park in early July. The park is also the home of the annual New Mills Town Council bonfire and firework display in November.
Near the lower entrance of the High Lee Park there is the quiet area of the Garden of Remembrance with its World War Two Memorial and the Memorial Plaque remembering the service men and women of the armed and civilian services who have been killed since 1945 – very special, as it is one of very few such memorials in the country.
