THERE will be a party in the park as a musical festival with an environmental message takes place.
The One World Festival will be held at High Lea Park, New Mills, on Saturday from midday until 6pm.
Held annually it will feature a line-up of musical acts which include Kathy’s Band, Mama Goose, Lazlo Baby, Emilie Lee, Musical Roots, TadFaster and Take Part in the Arts.
Usually it attracts several thousand people and this year’s theme is based on the UN’s global goals of ending poverty, combating climate change and fighting injustice and inequality.
There will also be stalls from organisations such as New Mills Oxfam, Stockport Peace, Fair Trade, Torrs Hydro and New Mills Walkers are Welcome.
Local food and drink traders will be on site to serve refreshments including Pulse Cafe and Torrside Brewing.
The festival is now in it’s 26th year and has grown from a small gathering to one of the largest social events on the calendar in the area.
It is self-funded by events throughout the year and donations on the day.
