New Mills Gardening Project – Job Opportunity

Incredible Edible New Mills is advertising a post for an outreach youth worker under its Digging for Dignity Project.

To develop and deliver high quality work with children and young people primarily aged 11-19 years and up to 24 years for people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

To support young people who are struggling with mental health issues and/or are experiencing isolation as a result of lock-down, historical home schooling, exclusion or unemployment.

To support young people to address risk taking behaviour and its impact on the wider community in order to reduce young people’s vulnerability to anti-social behaviour, engagement in offending, substance misuse, sexual exploitation, and to promote positive health and increase community cohesion.

To encourage young people to play an active part in maintaining and developing their local environment through community gardening. Signposting to other projects should also be considered.

This role requires working with young people using a street based outreach approach.
