London Marathon – 4 October – 10am
One of the highlights of the running calendar and originally scheduled for April, the 2020 London Marathon will take place next weekend on the 4th of October on a closed circuit around St. James’s park in London.
With no possibility of a mass participation event this year, both men’s and women’s races will be limited to just 50 athletes each, with respective marathon world record holder’s and Brigid Kosgei set to compete.
Toeing the start line in the elite men’s race will be two New Mills based runners, with Ross Millington and Jonny Mellor of Team New Balance Manchester looking to secure Olympic qualifying times ahead of the Tokyo Games next year.
Fresh off an altitude training camp in St. Moritz, the Team NBMCR runners have been finalising their preparation over the rolling hills of the High Peak and most recently tested their form at the Cheshire Half Marathon – (Ross nearest, Jonny middle).
We wish them all the best and can’t wait to see them on BBC1 at 10am 4 October as they strive for Olympic qualification.Good luck too to any of the non-elite runners who are running the ‘virtual’ London Marathon next weekend
