Counting down to Christmas in New Mills

With just a handful more sleeps to go before Christmas here’s a few highlights of what’s going on in our town over the coming days:

We have Carols galore, starting this evening at Revive Church on High St where the Revive worship band holds their traditional Carol Service at 6pm, followed by festive refreshments. This is a free event and will be a great evening of celebration this Christmas.

Get to St George’s Church tonight for their popular Carols by Candlelight, starting at 6.30pm – A traditional service of Nine Lessons & Carols followed by Mulled Wine and Mince Pies in the beautiful surroundings of the candlelit church.

On Thursday 21 December at High St Books, there’ll be 2 hours of live colundi music and other sonic enchantments!

Then on Friday you can take the children to a cool cookie workshop up at New Mills Youth & Community Centre on Longlands Rd.  It’s a Christmas themed cooking workshop for children aged 2-12yrs (under 5s must be accompanied).  Come and have a go at making 3 or more dishes to take away and enjoy with family
10:00-11:30am, cost £12. Snack, tea/coffee and recipe card included.

Also on Friday night Laura Jayne will be performing at the Hare & Hounds.  This pub is also hosting a 70s and 80s fancy dress disco night on the 23rd, followed by a Christmas Eve party night disco on the 24th.

The Pride of the Peaks is also having a Christmas Eve party with a £100 beer draw prize during the evening, and lots of music from across the decades.

Finally, St George’s church hall are opening their doors on Christmas Day to provide a community Christmas dinner.  As they say ‘No one should be alone at Christmas, come and join us for Christmas Dinner with Turkey and all the trimmings, and share a fun time together! (Vegetarian option also available).  Suggested donation of £5.00, or free if money is a problem.  **For catering purposes, all places need to be pre-booked and we need to know about any allergies.**  Call: (01663) 749323 for more information and to book.

Remember to keep an eye on the ‘whats on’ listing on Facebook and here on the web site as events are being added all the time.
