From the Royal Assent on 15th May 1860 to the Beeching cuts of 1970 and the Visit New Mills music trains of 2015, the exhibition includes snapshots from the busy history of the railway in New Mills.
The display will include original artefacts, model locomotives and tableau reconstructions of some familiar railway sights. The exhibition will run until the end of July.
Centre volunteer, Mark Brown says ‘Put this at the top of your holiday outings list. You will not be disappointed’.
Admission is free and hot and cold drinks, ice creams, cakes and biscuits are available in the coffee shop.
New Mills Heritage and Information Centre is situated on Rock Mill Lane, New Mills SK22 3BN. The Centre is open Tuesday to Sunday 10.30am to 4pm (4.30 at week-ends.
